 Welcome back to Term 2!

I’d like to start by saying well done to all of your fantastic young people for the positive way they have settled into their new classroom and coped with having me as their new teacher! It’s been busy but lots of fun. We are learning about each other as we go along.

Term 2 Theme

Our main topic will continue to be ‘Magic’. We will be developing our reading and writing skills by creating spells and making potions. We will also be using our numeracy skills to play lots of hide and seek where we will learn about positions and direction

In our PE lessons we are going to be doing target games with the Bristol Bears who will be coming into school to run inclusive, fun sessions every week. We have also started going to the hall on Wednesday mornings for our own PE sessions focusing on our mobility and social skills in a physical environment.

We will also be getting ready for Christmas with lots of craft and cooking activities as well as taking part in a winter show. 

RSE  

In our RSE lessons our topic is ‘Keeping safe and looking after myself’. Here we will be practising our self care and hygiene skills to be as independent as possible.

Swimming 

Swimming sessions will remain on Monday afternoons. Please supply suitable pads for the water.

If your child is going to be absent for any reason we really appreciate an early morning phone call to the office by 8.30am and a message left on the answering machine, as this greatly helps us plan our staffing. Thank you. 

Reminder of what’s needed in school

• Change of clothes kept in school, useful for any messy days.
• A supply of pads (nappies) , wet wipes and creams if needed. (We will write in your diary if these are running low.)
• Snacks and squash if your child needs these.
• Clothes that are appropriate for the weather, especially during outdoor learning sessions.

We will be continuing to add photos and comments about what your child gets up to at school If you have any access issues do let us know. We would love to see what your child has been getting up to over the summer if you could send us some photos!
