Claremont Special

A big welcome back to everyone in P2.

A big welcome back to everyone, we hope you all had a good half term break and hopefully enjoyed the long Jubilee bank holiday.

Hopefully most of you know by now we are welcoming Lydia Carswell to our P2 team this term as she returns from maternity leave.

She will be teaching P2 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Rachael will be teaching on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Kim will be continuing as Acting Assistant Head as well as Early Years Lead so will still be involved too. We would like to invite you in for a meet the teachers coffee morning on Wednesday 15th June at 9.30am.

Term 6 Theme

Our theme this term is ‘If you go down to the woods today’. Our sensory stories will include the Gruffalo and Teddy bear’s picnic. We will be playing games about picnics, singing teddy bear songs and doing lots of fun role play about going into the woods. We will also be making creative artwork with materials from nature, using our outdoor space to explore the natural world.

RSE As part of our whole school Relationship and Sex Education program we are covering ‘keeping safe and looking after myself’ this term.

Swimming and Rebound

We are currently getting risk assessments completed and signed off by physios ready for starting rebound and are hoping that we might fit in some sessions this term.

P2 swim day will continue to be on a Tuesday. Please keep sending in their swim stuff.  Please can you include swimming costume/shorts, swim nappies/pants and 2 large towels so we can use one for keeping your child warm and one to dry them.

Home-school contact

Please use the home-school diary or email either of us with any questions and updates. If you need to speak to us for any reason, please phone the school office.

If your child is going to be absent for any reason, we really appreciate an early morning phone call to the office and a message left on the answering machine, as this greatly helps us plan our staffing.

Reminder of what’s needed in school

  • Change of clothes kept in school, useful for any messy days.
  • A supply of pads (nappies), wet wipes and creams if needed. (We will write in your diary if these are running low.)
  • Snacks and squash if your child needs these.
  • Clothes that are appropriate for summer weather, especially during outdoor learning sessions.
  • If you signed up to take home reading books, book changing day will be on Mondays, so do send in their book, reading record and bookbag on this day.

Earwig now has an extra feature where you can send us photos, comments, or videos of what your child has been doing at home.

If you could send us any half term / Jubilee celebrations videos and photos we would love to share them with the class!
