Claremont Special

Curriculum Information

We encourage an Individual curriculum based around these four areas and incorporating transition and careers work. Pupils in Post 16 continue with their EHCP targets and work on the necessary skills to meet these through their learning. The Pupils in Post 16 also engage in ASDAN: Personal Progress and complete a range of units through their 3 years in Post 16 that result in them receiving a certificate at the end of their time at Claremont.

We also offer our pupils the opportunity to engage in Duke of Edinburgh Award and have successfully achieved the Bronze award in the past.

Our students are encouraged to engage in Careers learning throughout their time at Claremont but with a focus on Work Experience and Employment in post 16.

Curriculum Bundles

The Curriculum Bundles outline the areas of the curriculum that are linked with the Preparing for Adulthood areas on the Education, Health and care Plan (EHCP) and illustrate the breadth of the curriculum. These subjects provide the motivating context to enable us to teach priority skills. We have identified separate bundles for students with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in Community Inclusion and Employment. Due to the nature of our learners, there is significant overlap and interdependence between all of the bundles with the accreditation intertwined throughout.
